Details

Day 1: NAIROBI – LAKE NAKURU (Appx: 175 kms: 3 hrs)

0700hrs: Pick up from your hotel in Nairobi or Airport. We then depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, with brief stops at the view-points to marvel at the scenic-great rift valley escarpment.

The Great Rift Valley stretches from the Beqaa Valley in Lebanon which is in Asia to Mozambique in Southeast Africa. It’s a series of contiguous geographic trenches, approximately 6,800 kilometers (4,300 miles) in total length, and much of it is found in Kenya, where it has literally cut the country in two. The Valley contains some of the world’s finest lakes, mountains and plains.

Lake Nakuru is one of the Rift Valley soda lakes at an elevation of 1,754 m (5,755 ft) above sea level. The Park size is about 188 square kilometres and ideal for bird watching and wildlife viewing. It’s also a sanctuary to the black and white rhinos. The lake’s abundance of blue-green algae used to attract a vast quantity of flamingos that famously lined the shore. However, as a result of increased flooding (around 2013), from the seasonal rivers (Njoro, Nderit, Makalia, Naishi and Larmudiak) and the permanent Baharini springs, with no outflow/outlet, the lake received an alarming increase in the water levels that led to the migration of flamingos to nearby less congregated salty water lakes in search for food supply.

The Lake was declared a Ramsar Site in 1990 and in 2009 as an Important Bird Area.

We shall arrive in good time for lunch. Later proceed for an afternoon game viewing drive.

Overnight at The Cliff Nakuru. Meal plan: Lunch, Dinner

Day 2: LAKE NAKURU - MAASAI MARA – (Appx: 220 kms: 4-5 hrs)

After early breakfast, we shall then proceed to Maasai Mara Game reserve. It is located in South West Kenya, with vast scenic expanse of gently rolling African Savannah plains measuring approximately 1510 square kilometres in area and bordering Serengeti National Park in Tanzania to the south.

It’s famous for its spectacular natural diversity of wildlife and happens to be a premier Kenya safari location in East Africa, offering visitors many reasons to visit this animal paradise. Large numbers of Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, Elephant, African Buffalo, Wildebeest, Giraffe, Rhino, Zebra, Gazelle, and many more animals are found in the park in their natural habitat unconfined and free to roam the vast wilderness stretching for miles on end.

Overnight at Soroi Mara Bush Camp. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 3: FULL DAY - MAASAI MARA

(Perfect day to undertake optional balloon ride over the plains of Maasai Mara at a fee – $ 530 per person).
